Bug Description

when I long press #1 button (to get to the voice mailbox) it just says: 'Enter a number'. When entering the number, it calls the mailbox, but doesn't record the number. I find no way to store the mailbox's number in the phone. Is it implemented already ?

Thanks, that feature works for some users, it seems to depends on the SIM card to provide a voicemail number info that the system can use though...

Changed in dialer-app (Ubuntu):

in fact the service screens do have voicemail numbers here and it's not working either...

that's likely bug #1338970 (which is the behaviour when a SIM card doesn't define a voicemail number)

I have just checked my SIM card and there are a bunch of predefined numbers. I do so by choosing 'Import from SIM' in the contacts settings menu. The entry of question on the SIM is called MOBILBOX (I'm located in Austria). Dialing this connects me to my voice mail. I've now imported the MOBILBOX contact. Still no function when long pressing #1.
Does anybody know how the voice mail entry has to be defined to be recognized by the phone?

When I navigate to Settings -> Phone -> A1 Services
I get an empty list. (A1 is my provider)

I understand that the "1" key is a special default for calling the voicemail mailbox.

But taking the "long-press idea" further, shouldn't it be possible to assign a contact to any button of the dialer keypad? (quick-dial)

I can confirm that this is still an issue even with OTA-8.

Any feedback on a general "quick-dial" feature for long-press on any number key? I think this was a "normal" feature on feature phones, and is still a feature on any Android phone I've seen. Not sure about iPhone.

We now have OTA-9, and there is little change. On my bq Aquaris E5 with 2 SIM cards there is nothing happening on long-press of the <1> button, except that the "1" number is cleared from the number input field. No prompt for entering a voice mail number, no nothing.

A general "quick-dial" feature for long-press on any number key would be awesome. Any chance this is ever going to land in an implementation backlog?

Same on OTA 9.1. The symbol for the voicemail mailbox is there, but it is without function.
Regarding bug #1338970: How to define a voicemail number on the SIM card? If I remember correctly, my other phones asked me for the number when I hit the button the first time.
