suspend timeout ignored

Ok, just downgraded gnome-screensaver and gnome-power-management to the packages from jaunty.
It now works as expected. So no configuration error, it must be a bug in the package.

Thanks for the report. Does this bug exist in the most recent version of GPM in Karmic (2.27.2-0ubuntu2)? If so, can you run the follow command from the terminal:

No, it doesn't work using the current karmic package.
I think this one is a problem between gnome-power-manager and gnome-screensaver, as it doesn't work
if only one of these packages is from karmic. I will do further testing tomorrow and report back.

This is still not working after Alpha 4 release (I upgraded from Jaunty and have been updating frequently).

This bug doesn't happen to me anymore. Can anyone else confirm?

Jeez. I can't believe I went through the whole karmic dev cycle without catching this! Here's what I'm experiencing:

*SUCCESSFULLY suspend when on AC per the time setting in Power Management
*SUCCESSFULLY suspend on lid close
*SUCCESSFULLY suspend via GUI or hotkey
*SUCCESSFULLY start Screensaver when enabled - currently disabled

*FAILS to suspend on battery per the time setting in Power Management
*FAILS to put display to sleep per the time setting in Power Management

Update to yesterday's comment. Is there simply no way on launchpad to update a previous comment?

I reported that the screensaver started correctly. This is not the case. The screensaver is failing to start.
Also, DPMS sleep is working correctly when on AC power but FAILS when on battery.
So, both suspend and DPMS settings are ignored when operating on battery power.

Success! I have fixed both of these issues.

I noticed in gconf that this value looked suspicious:
/apps/gnome-power-manager/actions/sleep_type_battery=nothing

After resetting the default gconf values per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager#Getting%20GConf%20values

and setting

/apps/gnome-power-manager/actions/sleep_type_battery=suspend

DPMS sleep is now working correctly when on battery power!
Suspend after timeout set in GUI is now working correctly when on battery power!
