--create fails due to failure to mount /proc

Having the same problem on natty.

Same problem on oneiric lxc-container created on 12.04 with 'lxc-create -n builder -t ubuntu -- -r oneiric'

Having the same problem on VMWare image of precise under OS X 10.6.8. What's interesting here is that the pbuilder create calls with ARCH=i386 work for me, but ARCH=amd64 are failing with the same symptoms (chroot mount failure followed by debootstrap failed error). I have:

sudo DIST=lucid ARCH=i386 pbuilder create --> works
sudo DIST=lucid ARCH=amd64 pbuilder create --> fails
sudo DIST=maverick ARCH=i386 pbuilder create --> works
sudo DIST=maverick ARCH=amd64 pbuilder create --> fails
sudo DIST=natty ARCH=i386 pbuilder create --> works
sudo DIST=natty ARCH=amd64 pbuilder create --> fails
sudo DIST=oneiric ARCH=i386 pbuilder create --> works
sudo DIST=oneiric ARCH=amd64 pbuilder create --> fails
sudo DIST=precise ARCH=i386 pbuilder create --> works
sudo DIST=precise ARCH=amd64 pbuilder create --> fails

Edit to my last comment (and removing myself from the bug report). It looks like the cause of the error in my case was that I had installed the i386 version of 12.04, not the amd64 version. I created a new amd64 image of 12.04, and all flavors of pbuilder create now work.

(Note to those who come across this error while running 12.04 in a VMWare image from OS X -- check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3696 to see if your computer can support a 64-bit OS. If it can, install the amd64 version instead of the i386 version. You can verify which version is installed by typing: "file /bin/ls" at the ubuntu terminal prompt.)
