Any chance this is on a system with NFS home directories?

...or encrypted home directories for that matter.

Also: can anyone send a core file? The extra information would be useful in this case.

I had this happen to me with Ubuntu 12.04 with an encrypted, non-separate-partition, home directory formatted ext4.

That's the limit of my technoknowledge....

Just to clarify: you're using ecryptfs (ie: the one that you get when you check the "use encrypted home directory" option during the install)?

Is anyone getting that issue on a normal local userdir filesystem (i.e not using ecryptfs nor nfs)?
