Bug Description

When I try to modify a printer in http://localhost:631/printers I am prompted to authenticate as usual, but my username and my password do not work.

I have already checked that my user belongs to the lpadmin group.

However I can use system-config-printer.

I have attached the cups error_log in debug mode (LogLevel debug).

Same on Kubuntu 13.04 latest updates. Works with the GUI tools but not with the web interface. User to add a printer is in group lp and lpadmin.

I've just installed apparmor-utils and I executed

sudo aa-complain cupsd

so now I'm able to login with cups web interface again, however this is only a workaround

pitti, this seems to be an AppArmor problem, can you look into this? Thanks.

Everyone who has this problem, can you run

sudo aa-complain cupsd

if you have not yet done so and then do the stuff you wanted to do in the web interface?

Please tell whether the web interface works for you now and, independent whether it actually works, attach /var/log/syslog to this bug report. Thanks.

Till, we have Apport :-) The CurrentDmesg.txt attachment already tells you the AppArmor violations:
