Bug Description

When trying to import an EncFS folder, it says:

The selected folder is not an EncFS folder.

Problem exists on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Intrepid.

I have had the problem on systems upgraded as well as systems freshly installed with Intrepid.

Problem exists when importing EncFS f folders created in Intrepid.

Problem may not exist with EncFS folders created in previous versions.

The configuration filename changed in encfs >=1.4.2, i've attached a patch that fixes the issue and is backward compatible.

I might add that encfs 1.4.2 included with intrepid is backward compatible with the old configuration file ".encfs5" and doesn't convert it to the new one. However newly created folders with encfs 1.4.2 uses the new configuration file ".encfs6.xml" and that's where cryptkeeper fails to find ".encfs5".

Version 0.9.3 fixes this problem.

If we could get it in Universe, that would be great.

The bug can then be closed.

Could someone tell me how to apply this patch? Or is there any binary available? I'm not a coder! :P

Does anyone have an estimate as to when this might be accepted into Universe?

Apparently the project coder has released a patch but it is not already in ubuntu repository.

I get the patched binary (for i386 only) .
You can in the meantime correct the problem by replacing the file /usr/bin/cryptkeeper by this one http://www.chocobon.fr/cryptkeeper and relaunch cryptkeeper.

I came into an analog problem: got this error "The selected folder is not an EncFS folder" while trying to import an encfs folder created by a different user. In my case I solved checking the permissions of the encfs folder and doing a chmod it 770 having both users in the group specified. That works.
