sudo cpanm JSON::XS
..
Makefile:332: recipe for target 'XS.o' failed
make: *** [XS.o] Error 127
-> FAIL Installing JSON::XS failed. See /home/ubuntu/.cpanm/work/1540171612.28700/build.log for details. Retry with --force to force install it.

Checking the build log:
/bin/sh: 1: x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc: not found

cpanm is pretty useless without this. The dependency should probably be "build-essential".

What happened:
building Perl packages fails because of missing compiler.

What is expected to happen:
build succeeds

Ubuntu versions:
16.04, 18.04 at least
