Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

I use Magnifier plugin of Compiz when I use my external monitor for watching movies or sometimes reading in internet while sitting in the couch. The keybinding I set up to start and stop it is Meta4 M.

For some reason if I use the launcher's keybings (Meta4 S for example) and the arrows to select what I want, when I hit return to select the workplace (or one of Chrome'w windows), it does select what I wanted, but it starts the Magnifier as well.

I think the mistake is not in my settings.

Could You please fix this?

Thanks.

When I activate the Compz-Magnifier with the Shortcut Super+m it also take effect to the Alt+Enter - shortcut. And this is a very important shortcut in cause of the file and folder properties. That means: when the magnifier is activ and I want to change the properties (e.g. the rights-management) of a file the magnifier will get activ... I try to eradicate this problem with dconf, gconf - even with the .xml-Files they used, but I can't solve this. And it is quite annoying to deactivate the magnifier whenever I wanna change the access rights of an element, because Alt+Enter is much more comfortable then do a rightclick and choose properties.

Similar issue here. No matter what keyboard combination I set in compiz manager, it always fires when I move or resize a window by keyboard (Alt+Spacebar+M+Return for example). I have to disable or enable the magnifier totally when required and that's inconvenient. And whenever it fires it is stateful, meaning if it is off, it will be turned on and the next time it would turn off. It doesn't happen with window maximize or unmaximize since I guess it doesn't involve a Return keypress.

Ubuntu 12.04 but with all (daily) updates.

This issue is also reported on http://askubuntu.com/questions/167314/how-to-change-keyboard-shortcut-for-compiz-magnifier-currently-alt-enter

It's of concern to me because rdesktop uses alt+enter as a toggle for maximising the remote screen.

Why has it been marked as low priority? This sends a message that people with impaired vision are irrelevant.

Indeed, it's quite annoying.

I cannot use it as I need the ALT+Enter in several other software - e.g. in NetBeans.
