Bug Description

Binary package hint: clutch

Clutch currently depends on apache, but it can also be used with lighttpd. It would be nice if you could install clutch with lighttpd withouth needing to install apache.

Well unfortunately, I didn't get to doing this before Feature Freeze, and I think (correct me if I'm wrong) this kind of request is subject to the freeze.

At this point, we're going to have to delay this under Hardy+1 opens, as I personally want to shift my focus to bugfixing for the rest of the release cycle.

Of course, debdiffs are welcome and if someone can do this minimally invasively, I'd be glad to take a look at it and try to bring it through Feature Freeze exception.

Just for reference when hardy+1 does open, you may wish to look at the dependencies for e.g. the wordpress package in universe, which depends on the following (among others):

- apache2 | httpd
(can be satisfied by, among others, lighttpd and one of the various apache2 mpms)
- libapache2-mod-php5 | php5 | php5-cgi
(can be satisfied by php5-cgi if e.g. the machine requires the worker mpm, which doesn't fulfill the dependencies of libapache2-mod-php5)

Just my two cents.

Well, at the moment, the packaging's postinst only works with Apache but is extensible to include other webservers, so in my opinion *for now* the dependency is correctly written to only allow workable setups.

However, once I add lighttpd support I will add the other possibilities.
