Bug Description
Binary package hint: cheese
When I try to record a video in Cheese, i get very few pictures with a huge time gap between them. I already reduced the resolution manually to 960 x 720, so that the picture mode runs seamless, but for the video mode it doesn't help.

While running the "ubuntu-bug cheese", you have reported that the test video does not have any problems, are you sure the test video does not drop frames and the problem is only when recording with cheese?
From a terminal run the following command, and see if the problem exists:
gst-launch-0.10 autovideosrc ! ffmpegcolorspace ! autovideosink
Can you try recording videos with better lighting? Try taking the laptop outside in bright sunlight. See if there is any improvement on the frames per second.
