Same on my AAO. I was able to get video configured to work in gstreamer- properties test as follows: properties
gstreamer-
Video Output - Plugin: X Window System (No Xv)
Video Input - Plugin: Video for Linux 2 (v4l2), Device: USB 2.0 Camera
However, in cheese all I see is a very faint static image from the webcam -- no streaming video at all on the display.
I can record photos and videos successfully, so the webcam itself is working fine -- it's just the video display that's bad.
