unable to write data DVD

I have long disliked Brasero - and in Jaunty I like it even less. Have you tried K3b?

My problem, reported in Bug #378481, is that I can't burn ANY DVDs with my external burner; I never had this problem with Hardy or Intrepid. I can READ DVDs from that external burner just fine and I can still burn CDs with it so, obviously, this is some sort of "bug" in Jaunty regarding blank DVDs. So far I have not received any comment or reply to my bug report. I hope you get better results.

This is a well known wodim bug.

Okay, what's the User Name and Password for that ftp: site? (Is there a "generic" name and password?) Will the "fix" work for the K3b burner too?

???? ftp.berlios.de offers "anonymous ftp".

If you believe that you need a passwd, then you either
use a broken ftp client or your sysadmin missconfigured
the firewall.

And replacing wodim by cdrecord will of course fix any
wodim/genisoimage related problems ;-)

I compiled and installed cdrtools-2.01.01a60.tar.bz2
but brasero give me the same error, what is the problem ?

And how can i uninstall this tool please ?

Did brasero use cdrtools?

There is no clean way to "uninstall" the broken wodim.
You need to manually remove it's files.....
