Bug Description
Ubuntu release: 22.04.03
Calibre release 6.26
I regularly import into calibre server, and find that it is quite usual to use a semicolon (;) for separating author names. Calibre uses the ampersand (&) for that. As a consequence I very often find instances of "Authorname;" or "Author1; Author2" in the author field, which requires manual cleanup.
I'm glad it is possible to bring this to your attention as an enhancement request, rather than an actual bug, as it is not much more than a paper cut: annoying, but maybe worth the effort to make it go away.

I'm afraid calibre uses & only as separators. semi-colons can have other uses in author names so thats not going to change.
