Bug Description

ubuntu-bug on actual report keep abending with network problem (502 bad gateway) so I'm filing on my primary box and will apport-collect on dc7700 or actual box shortly

** Details

Lubuntu QA-test install on
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

Testcase: install alongside
(system had a full disk install performed earlier today; this was 2nd install that would shrink prior install partition to create space & install alongside).

Calamares just QUIT during install process. Screensaver had kicked in, so I can't say exactly where it was up to, i was using other system logging issue with jerky-display when I woke it from screensaver & almost instantly the calamares screen closed without message.

calamares crash report in /var/crash

I tried multiple times (`ubuntu-bug /var/crash/....crash`) it failed always at 99% with network issue and "HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway" so I tried again with `sudo` to same results.

I switched to my primary box and filed bug here.
On dc7700 box I then `apport-collect 1945544`

At that point I get

"The authorization page:
 (https//launchpad.net/+authorize-token-d.....)
should be opening in your browser. Use your browser to authorize
this program to access Launchpad on your behalf"

at which point the box just stopped pretty much
- mouse clicks do nothing (can't select/click on anything)
- keyboard appears to do nothing (inc. Ctrl+Alt+F4, Ctrl+Alt+T won't let me switch to a terminal to explore)

however mouse-pointer moves around... so kernel & parts of system are still up!

I fear the calamares bug crash report however is gone..

I can always repeat this install (I think it was near the end at the expand packages stage) -- but I fear firefox may have an issue because of the deb/snap change for flavors (unless it's a networking or box issue!)

Nope - even SysRq REISUB is failing to reboot the box; on both keyboards too?? (primary model-m via KVM switch & USB direct to front of box)

How can kernel be up (mouse moves around) & not respond to that command?

it feels like I'm missing something.. but I can't see it :(

I couldn't get control of box... even unable to SysRq reboot (power button was used)

thus no useful calamares report sorry.

(my ubuntu-bug or apport-collect concern seems to be moot though.)

two partitions exist on box;
sda1 - 29.21 GiB 6.79GiB used
sda2 - 45.32 GiB 6.78GiB used

sizes look appropriate; only .1GiB difference in used

Grub reports two systems present.. so it looks like it got to `update-grub` was performed.

logged into 'new' (top listed system in grub) and install looks good
reboot & quick explore of other system. it looks perfect (prior post-install changes/commands present etc; on smaller partition only)
