I have constant cpu load after scale changing.
On intel gpu and on nvidia gpu.

I have thinkpad P50 with Quadro M1000M
Stock ubuntu nvidia driver 418.56 was used

I just checked on live usb. Same issue presented, but cpu consumption was not to high.

Stock ubuntu 19.04 live usb don't have such issue. But ubuntu budgie 19.04 have.

If you are using Xorg with fractional scaling then this issue is expected [1]. And I assume you are using Xorg if you have the Nvidia driver installed.

However, mutter should be smart enough to detect when you are using integer scaling factors and avoid the inefficiency of fractional scaling. So maybe this is a different bottleneck...

Experiencing the same issue on an Intel GPU

Ubuntu Budgie 19.04
Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520] (rev 07)

This is an HP Spectre x360 (early model)

budgie-wm will use up all available cpu for a long time. Sometimes it will settle after a while but more ofthe then not it will remain high. Causing a high system load also.

This can be either when connecting or disconnecting an external display, or activating the displays after powersaving. Internal is HiDPI, external not. Scaling is 100%.
