Unable to Edit Metadata in Audacity while creating MP3 export

Wanted to enter the name of the artist, song, album etc into the form for EDIT METADATA that pops up when you try to export a recording... in this case to MP3. The form is visible, the cursor will move around in the form but alpha or number keystrokes are not accepted in any boxes on the screen. Arrow keys work ok though. Can only skip this screen as a result creating unlabelled MP3 files in the process.
