Bug Description

Binary package hint: aptitude

The problem occured immediately after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 beta1 upon updating the repositories via "sudo aptitude safe-update && sudo aptitude safe-upgrade". The repositories were successfully downloaded, and then immediately followed by the crash before extended state information could be written.
