Bug Description
Extra line-feeds are beint printed to STDOUT (file handle 1) when doing an "aptitude safe-upgrade".
In other words, a bunch of extra white space is printed after typing the command and hitting 'enter' (no, I'm not holding down the enter key or pushing it multiple times).
I have not seen any other command-line applications experiencing similar problems.

I've been having this problem since upgrading to hardy alpha about a month ago. Some additional observations:
- it happens in any terminal (konsole, gnome-terminal, xfce-terminal)
- sometimes, when it scrolls, it fails to stop and prompt on whether to proceed with the upgrade .. it just goes ahead and does it. THIS IS A SECURITY ISSUE in my opinion!
- it seems to only be related to running aptitude
