Binary package hint: apport
If you have any packages that need updating, apport won't let you file crash reports, even if the packages are unrelated to the package containing the binary that crashed. Much of update-manager only runs if there are packages that need upgrading. If there is a crash anywhere in that code, apport will refuse to file it.
#267488 and #340970 are similar, but this is reported separately because in this case apport simply doesn't work for this package, and the resolution is potentially different in that update-manager and similar packages (dpkg, apt-get, and friends) could be whitelisted to skip the package check even if those bugs aren't fixed for packages in general. |
