Bug Description
This very well could be a bug with gvim, I'm not sure. It never happened until I upgraded to 11.10 though (with 11.04 I used the classic desktop so I'm not sure if it happens using Unity). With 11.10 the application menu bar is at the top of the screen instead of being part of the window. Before, I was able to select "Syntax >> Show filetypes in menu" in order to trigger a long list of syntax highlighting filetypes to appear in the same Syntax menu. Now, this doesn't work, and kills the menu so clicking on it does nothing. Closing gvim, then re-opening fixes the menu. I got this output in my terminal when the problem occurred. I'm pretty sure I re-opened gvim before it spit it out:
** (gvim:21249): WARNING **: Unable to register window with path '/com/canonical
** (gvim:21249): WARNING **: Unable to register window with path '/com/canonical
I'm running 64 bit 11.10, installed by upgrading from 11.04. I'm using the proprietary Nvidia driver on a T61 lenovo laptop with an external twin-view display, if that makes a difference. Also, the disk is encrypted (I used the 11.04 Ubuntu Alternate installer disc before the upgrade).
