Bug Description

Binary package hint: apache2

On my desktop system I have installed apache for testing purposes. However, I don't want it to start on boot, so I used update-rc.d to remove the apache service. However, after upgrading apache, these files are always installed again, meaning I have to update-rc.d also.

Does it matter? I'm using the newest available version on Jaunty, but it has happened to me before on all the older releases, I just didn't take the time to report the bug.

Hi Frank,

Yes it does matter since I would like to reproduce this.

Thanks

Ok, sorry. I'm seeing this behaviour on my Jaunty installation, so
that's Apache version 2.2.11-2ubuntu2
However, this behaviour was also seen on Hardy and Intrepid (by me). I
just didn't report this bug back than.

Thanks,

Frank

Thanks for letting me know, I was wondering how you removed it from booting? Did you remove the script from /etc/init.d? Or the /etc/rc2.d script or used update-rc.d?

Thanks

I tried both removing i with update-rc.d and removing it manually from
the rc?.d directories. I didn't see a need for removing the init.d
file.

Chuck,

Personally I run update-rc.d.

Thanks!
Roger
