Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information. Would you please add the information requested from the "Reporting Sound Bugs" section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems as separate attachments? Thanks in advance.

Hi LucaBalletta . Can you please try installing "linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic" (then reboot) & report your results? A number of audio problems on HP laptops have been resolved by installing this package. Also please ensure there are no extra "alsa model quirks" in your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

If this does not resolve your issue, please run "apport-collect -p alsa-base 505124" (without the quotes) from the terminal.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry,

I must correct my results!!! After installing "linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic" (then reboot), the mic is working fine.
But the input level in Sound Preferences doesn't seems to work, for this I've thought a wrong result!

Many many thanks for all!!!!! I'll post this bug solution.

Hi LucaBalletta,

Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 505124

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

Please let us know your results.

Please obtain /proc/asound/card*/codec* contents from:
1) fresh boot with mic working
