Full laptop speakers are not used to play audio files

Bug Description
I use a LENOVO Y 500 series laptop, it has a Bass function , which fine in windows os. But when playing music files in unbuntu, the sound is very low and for some reason the Bass is not activated. The Bass switch is on but the is no effect on the volume on the laptop speakers. The volume is very low as compared to when i play music in Vista. Plzz help
