I am having the same problem with a new dell-g3-3590,

arecord -l gives:

card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 2: ALC3254 Alt Analog [ALC3254 Alt Analog]

  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Its not detecting the internal mic nor the headfone mic.
