A computer is 50% useless without sound. You don't seem to be in hurry
to roll this back to end my misery. This is the second time this has
happened, the first had to be fixed by an engineer. Seriously thinking
of using Windows, or seeing an engineer again because of your update.
The thing I miss about Windows is the ability to 'Go Back' to a previous
session. PC Specialist whom built my high-end machine warned me not to
use Linux...

Same here. I fix would be great. I haven't tried to boot with older headers though, maybe you'll get some sound back @surfsecret ?

Sound working again thanks to an engineer. Apparently, the sound drivers need to be updated. Would have hated to use Windows 10 as their updates are dreadful.

Could you explain how was this fixed? Ain't the drivers supposed to update automatically with the system update?

I went off on holiday and hoped the bug got fixed in the meantime but apparently not. :(

Well, if the drivers were being updated automatically with a system
update they weren't for me.

The engineer didn't explain exactly what he did, sorry.

The repair wasn't expensive, so maybe you should get an engineer to look
at?
