Adding new users graphically does not work Ok in Kubuntu Maverick x64

Trying to add a new user in Kubuntu 10.10 from the System Preferences menu, it does not work properly; That's to say, it creates the new user but there is a problem with its password when trying to login as the new user: A window prompts to enter and confirm a new password as ordered by the "root" but it suddenly disappears within a few seconds.

It makes impossible to login as the newly created user.
