Bug Description
Binary package hint: acpi
I cannot change the screen brightness in Ubuntu 10.04 using the 2.6.32-22-generic ubuntu kernel. The brightness is on full and cannot be lowered with either the Fn buttons or by running a command like echo 50 > /proc/acpi/

The patched kernel posted in the comments of bug #554569 appears to correct this problem when one switches back to the default of no xorg.conf, and does not use xforcevesa or i915.modeset=0 in grub.
