Bug Description

There is no DVB-t software in main repository for the gnome desktop, I had to download kaffeine, from the kde project! I think that a dvb software is essential also for gnome users! thank you

thanks for your bug. What is a "DVB-T software"?

digital video broadcasting - terrestrial

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T

it is a new standard introduced some time ago to broadcats tv channels
digitally. Xine has a backend to play it but not gstreamer...

This is something that would be better represented in a spec or in a implementation proposal on an upstream mailing list and I doubt that gstreamer is the problematic bit - afaik the captured streams from DVB-T can be viewed with gstreamer no problem, no?

yes, I can see them (with audio codecs from ugly plugins)
I don't really know what is the problem... Ok, I'll write a spec and
post here the link

I think the problem is that a bug is not really suited to track the solution to a problem like "write a gstreamer based app to view dvb-t streams". If I misunderstand you, please let me know.

here's the wiki for my spec

and the launchpad entry

https://features.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/gnome-dvb-t

should I do anything else? is it understandable? do you think that I
should propose it for UDS mtview?

You are right but I just asked you if what I wrote in the spec was
right enough, since I'm not used to writing specs

Maybe you should, a couple of gstreamer folks will be around.

Changed in gstreamer0.10:

I agree - Totem should be capable of handlig digital video broadcasting - but it is not limited to just terrestial. It's the device that counts, right?

PS. I could use DVB-C on my home, but I now use two Artec T14 devices, which are DVB-T devices.

This is no bug in gstreamer0.10 but more a request for a new application...

Hi All,

I've come in a bit late to this discussion but I have developed an GPLed, GNOME DVB application called Me TV. Please check it out and let me know what you think.
