Bug Description
Using Lucid Xubuntu, the master volume is at maximum whenever the laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad R61i) wakes up from sleeping. (Note that this is a change from previous releases where the master volume was usually muted when first booting up.)

Let me revise that: the master volume is at maximum whenever the laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad R61i) wakes up from sleeping. Usually when booting up or logging in, the sound is muted.
