Bug Description
After a recent update (the last day or two) brightness control is now more broken on my Dell XPS M1330. The brightness controls jump over multiple brightness levels. After "dimming" the display because of inactivity, the system restores it to a dimmer level than the "dimmed" state.

There's a workaround by dell's support in this webpage http:// blog.higherthin gs.org/ borghardt/ article/ 3633.html
You should blacklist the video module. It worked for me.
