Bug Description
Almost all thinkpads come with a trackpoint and a trackpad. Although Ubuntu does support the trackpoint itself as a tracking device, it would be nice to have a utility to switch between the two. On Windows, Lenovo provides a utility that sits in the system tray and can be clicked on to enable/disable the trackpoint/
Attached is the screenshot of the Lenovo utility in action.

Thanks for your bug.
There is the Synaptics TouchPad util which seems very similar to what you require.
In Ubuntu, install gsynaptics. In Kubuntu, ksynaptics. You should find you can then add the applet to your panel.
Let me know if that resolves what you want.
