Bug Description

I wanted to test Ubuntu 15.10 from live USB on a MacBook Pro 8,2 with Radeon HD 6770M.
Currently, the machine has installed Ubuntu 15.04 with Radeon disabled in grub and works well. I have installed this booting the live USB of Ubuntu 15.04 through a 'nomodeset' command in grub options. I'm looking to do the same to testing live the 15.10, but it seems not work.

If I boot the USB normally, the boot stopped at [6.9] with "i8042: No controller found" issue.
If I boot removing "quite splash" from grub, the boot stopped at [7.3] with "fb: switching radeonfmfb from EFI VGA" issue.
If I boot removing "quite splash" and adding "nomodeset" in grub, the boot stopped after a couple of minutes on "[ OK ] Started WPA supplicant".

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1497905/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Wily is a package with the following description:

Description: A work-alike of the Acme programming environment for Plan 9

That is not the right package for this bug report.

affects: wily (Ubuntu) → ubuntu

I have tried today with the 15.10 RC ISO image from http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/347/builds/104847/downloads and all is the same. Unable to boot the live and screen shows the same issues.

Trying different way to install Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10 on MacBook Pro with AMD Radeon and got issues.

Actually, I can boot live and install only with the follows in grub:
outb 0x728 1
outb 0x710 2
outb 0x740 2
outb 0x750 0

So, Ubuntu only works with Radeon GPU disabled (external monitor not works) and I must modify the grub to have a working installation and losing discrete GPU.
