Bug Description

In feisty:
With metacity (desktop effect disabled): most application do not steal focus on their start, if user switched to another window before application window first appears.
But this is not true to compiz (desktop effects enabled).
This is probably true to all gnome apps, but examples are: gimp, gnome-terminal.

Does anybody noticed this bug?
This problem is still present in Gutsy Beta!
It is a big usability issue. Until it is solved,
compiz should be replaced by metacity by default.
Users can get over the loss of desktop effects, but
starting all application windows over that I work with
is very irritating.

changed upstream bug reference to http://bugs.opencompositing.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501 that seems to be used.
This bug is probably fixed upstream. Could be the fix included in ubuntu's compiz?

I just tested it in Hardy, and the bug is still present. Might it be a regression ?

Sorry, I just figured out that you need to set the "/apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/focus_prevention_level" key to "2" and the "/apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/focus_prevention_match" key to "any" in gconf for it to work as expected.
