Bug Description
This bug actually consits of two parts:
On the one side it is quite hard to just donate small amounts of money. I like Ubuntu. I use it every day. I want to donate! But how? Finally there is a donate option at the download page, but it still is too hidden. Searching for "donate" on the webpage (ubuntu.com) brings up nothing. There could a big "donate" button on the front page. There could be a flattr (http://
Which brings me to part II of the issue. In our small little company we have here, we have dozens of virtual ubuntu instances. All could be manged by landscape, could buy some support. We would pay for that. The problem is only the pricing. Paying 100 USD for a workstation and 320 USD for a server is way to much for a company like ours. So we end up doing it ourselves. Which actually is lot cheaper. The problem here is, that Ubuntu gets nothing.
I think it is a good start to let users select to topic (by using the donation sliders) they spend their money on. This has to be improved and extended. Let users vote by donation money. Let them put up bounties in launchpad for fixing bugs. There are so many ways ...
