[9.10] Trust KB-2950, keyboard working, mouse not.

I have the exact same issue but with a different keyboard/mouse combo. Its a keyboard with a trackball built in much like yours. And its a wireless one if that matters.

Found what caused this on my system, the trackball in the keyboard is detected as a synaptic touchpad for some reason. Removed the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package and the mouse came to life, assuming its using some basic driver instead.

I did some detective work on the synaptics problem some (a long) time ago

But I don't have the skills to go further... So uninstalling the synaptics package really is the best option for now.

if the "synaptics" driver doesn't exist, your mouse / keyboard will be used by "evdev", which is as should be.

I also have a Trust Wireless Media Center keyboard, and confirm removing Synaptics package restored mouse functionality in Ubuntu 9.10 (PS3)..

removing "synaptics" worked with a logitech EX100 combo

me too with frozen mouse pointer.

How do i remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics , if cannot move my mouse?

Log in to your Ubuntu box (you can do this without a mouse).

GNU/Linux is easy to use without a mouse if you know a couple of keyboard commands.

Press ALT+F1 to pop up the menu.
Use the arrow keys to navigate to
Applications->Accessories->Terminal
When it is highlighted, press ENTER and a terminal window will pop up. Press ALT+Tab to go to it, but it should already have focus.
Now type in the terminal:

$ sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

a lot of messages will pop up in the terminal and it will ask you if you want to remove the package (as well as xserver-xorg-input-all). Enter Y and press ENTER.
The packages will be removed and your mouse will start working.
Now be glad you have a (powerful) command line and learn how to use it!!!

I forgot to say that the sudo command will ask for your password... Enter it and press ENTER...
