lsusb cannot read serial

When running:
lsusb -v -d 2a47:0c02 | grep -q iSerial .* JW037111
as the jenkins user, I get:
Couldn't open device, some information will be missing

This means we aren't actually detecting when the device is removed, relying on the relay to work correctly. This has not created notable problems in the automated setup so far, but could, and issues with manual disconnecting could almost certainly arise.
