Bug Description

I installed Ubuntu-mate 16.04.2 on a Raspberry Pi 3 and when I ran Software Updater I received the error message "The upgrade needs a total of 48.2M free space on disk '/boot'. Please free at least an additional 4,080 k of disk space on '/boot'. ..."

I used another computer running Ubuntu and using Gparted I deleted my PI_BOOT partition (after copying the contents to a folder in Home) and shrunk the PI_ROOT partition. I then created a 1 Gb Fat32 partition, labled it PI_BOOT, and copied the files back into the partition.

I was now able to run Software Updater with sucess.

The initial size of the PI_BOOT partition in the ubuntu-mate-16.04.2-desktop-armhf-raspberri-pi.img image needs to be larger or most people will either not update or not use Ubuntu-mate on the Raspberry Pi 3.

I too having the same problem with ubuntu-mate 16.04.2 distro for my raspberry pi 3.

I too get the same exact error while updating my 16.04.2.

How do I resize the boot partition????

Not only that my Google Chromium web browser keep getting Aw,snap! Error.

In addition, I could get the same HDMI resolution mode like the previously release of ubuntu-mate 16.04.1.

Well... I am having this same issue, so not sure why you say this is not effecting ubuntu-mate. Same 48.2M free space on disk '/boot error OP stated.
