"Not enough free disk space" when using Software Updater

Bug Description
I installed Ubuntu-mate 16.04.2 on a Raspberry Pi 3 and when I ran Software Updater I received the error message "The upgrade needs a total of 48.2M free space on disk '/boot'. Please free at least an additional 4,080 k of disk space on '/boot'. ..."
I used another computer running Ubuntu and using Gparted I deleted my PI_BOOT partition (after copying the contents to a folder in Home) and shrunk the PI_ROOT partition. I then created a 1 Gb Fat32 partition, labled it PI_BOOT, and copied the files back into the partition.
I was now able to run Software Updater with sucess.

I too having the same problem with ubuntu-mate 16.04.2 distro for my raspberry pi 3.
I too get the same exact error while updating my 16.04.2.
How do I resize the boot partition????
Not only that my Google Chromium web browser keep getting Aw,snap! Error.
In addition, I could get the same HDMI resolution mode like the previously release of ubuntu-mate 16.04.1.
