ubuntu mate 22.04 crashes with synaptic and xsane

 I've just freshly installed ubuntu mate 22.04 jelly, updated package, and added 'synaptic'. Once synaptic launched, clicking on the search button (top right panel or same from the drop down menu), I am directly disconnected / exit from the session...

and i have quite the same problem with my scanner under xsane 0.999; when i try to scan, the scanner begins its init and, very shortly, a window appears (but it's not readable) and desappears (black screen) and i'm logged out of my session

re loading the system from iso does not solve

perhaps looks like a problem with graphics (gtk or something like that)
