Hi,

Strange and should definitely not happen. Are you using a language
setting other than English? Could you try running the uninstaller and
re-installing from
https://github.com/downloads/Gnurou/tagainijisho/tagainijisho-0.9.2.exe?

Application is set to System Default, but I also tried setting to English just in case. I currently have English and Japanese installed on my system. I've tried keeping the fonts on default (MS Shell Dlg 2) or tried changing to Meiryo or Segoe UI.

Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Tagaini Jisho, still persisting.

Update! :)

Uninstall 0.9.2 and installed 0.9.1 and the definitions are back. Something broke between releases methinks, at least for the Windows packages.

Thanks for the update. Anyway 0.9.2 should be working on your system, I
tried it myself on Wine and it was just working. For some reason it seems
like it is using the old databases with the new program. Could you go to
"help/about Tagaini Jisho" and tell me the versions that are reported for
the program, the JMdict and kanjidic2?

Thanks!

ok, uninstall 0.9.1, deleted folders in Program Files (x86) and in my Appdata/local. Reinstalled 0.9.2, back to the same issue.

here's the versions of dictionaries:
Tagaini Jisho uses data from various sources:
JMDict version 2011-11-13, distributed under the Creative Common Attribution Share Alike Licence, version 3.0.
Kanjidic version 2011-11-13, distributed under the Creative Common Attribution Share Alike Licence, version 3.0.
KanjiVG version 2011-10-29, distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 licence.

It's weird that Japanese characters are all there but the English stuff is not there.

Indeed, the versions are wrong - with 0.9.2 they should be as follows:

JMDict version 2011-11-17, distributed under the Creative Common
Attribution Share Alike Licence, version 3.0.
Kanjidic version 2011-11-18, distributed under the Creative Common
Attribution Share Alike Licence, version 3.0.
KanjiVG version 2011-10-29, distributed under the Creative Commons
Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 licence.

Actually Tagaini should not even start since the database version does
not match. What is unclear is where does this database version come
from. Could you look for files named jmdict.db and jmdict-en.db on
your hard disk? An old version is probably present somewhere where it
should not be.
