Comment 2 for bug 991984

Hi I am Garima Ahuja, I am new to Systers. I would like to fix this bug.
I think the fix here should be to take the mixed-case email addresses, make them lowercase and store them temporarily somewhere.
Then drop the column containing these email addresses. Create a new column and fill it using the temporarily stored addresses.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Please guide me how to proceed.
