Bug Description

Gnome Terminal asks for confirmation when closing a busy terminal (with an unfinished task), even when that terminal is only one of several being closed. Terminator asks for confirmation when closing multiple terminals, even when none are busy. It would be nice to be able to toggle both behaviours; most of the time closing multiple idle terminals doesn't need confirmation, but busy terminals should not be closed without it, IMO.

no longer affects: terminator (Fedora)

Description of problem:
Terminator doesn't ask for confirmation when closing an active/busy/remote connected terminal/tab.
This is really critical when performing remote system administration.
If there are multiple windows under same tab all sessions are closed.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Version : 0.97
Release : 4.fc20

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a terminator window
2. Remote connect to another host (optional)
3. Run a command (like 'top' or 'watch')
4. Click on 'Close Tab'

Actual results:
Tab is closed every time.

Expected results:
Ask for confirmation when remote connected and/or running some command

Additional info:
This doesn't happens on (not all of) previous versions.

I cannot imagine how terminator shall detect if your remotely connected anywhere. From my point of view it is your own task as a system administrator to know which shells you have open or not.

Anyway, I am always getting a "Close multiple terminals?" confirmation window when closing more than one session in a terminator window and I wasn't able to point out a setting or a configuration option which could change this behavior.

I'm running a bzr build of terminator here, so it might be possible that the stable version in Fedora is missing this feature, still.

In case of any interest you may pull the latest bzr build I am using from here:

Of course, without any guarantee because you should consider this one a third-party package.

Please note that such feature requests like this basically should go to the upstream project at

Still happens. Just tried opening e.g. $ nautilus /tmp. No question/alert popup when one terminal window is open.

If there are 2 windows open there is the warning, which can be turned off. (A always keep on option - e.g. title_hide_sizetext = Never would be not a bad idea.)

Changed in terminator (Fedora):
importance: Unknown → Medium
status: Unknown → Invalid
