Hello leok,

Thank you for your bug report! Would you mind sending a tarball of the /var/log/installer/ directory ? This would help.

Thanks,
Olivier

Hello leok, fossfreedom,

It seems that the installer is built using an old version of curtin. The --download-only option of `curtin system-install` is missing - which is what caused the install to fail.

When we released the 23.04 installer, we used the following curtin revision: 9e9f66e835c79e00d17e61593cc01a66d055c2e9

We also moved to core22 for the 23.04 release. In the shared logs, I see that we are still using python3.8 so I'd assume it is core20 based? Is there a plan to move to core22?

For reference, here is the snapcraft.yaml file we used for the lunar release:

https://github.com/canonical/subiquity/blob/23.04.2/snapcraft.yaml

Thanks,
Olivier

Hi Olivier

  thanks for the feedback

The uplift to our installer is currently stalled:

https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-flavor-installer/issues/19

Basically there isn't yet a process in place to allow flavours to uplift to the latest software baseline. Additionally the existing installer snap no longer builds due to dependencies that cannot be satisfied.

If there is anyway you could prod the right engineers to resolve the above this will help not only ourselves (ubuntu budgie) but also enable all flavours to migrate to the new installer.
