Bug Description
I was testing your ppa package for empathy / telepathy and noticed that I cannot use the traditional IRC commands. This is a major oversight from my perspective.
Just try to op msg join etc in an irc mode. It only comes back as command not recognized or some such.

It seems to me like this is a bug with the IRC code in Telepathy, not Spyke. It should probably be closed as invalid here
