While investigating lp:1650688 it seems that we cannot rely on timedatectl to work 100% or even always be available in core. The current sympton is that the timezone will be reported incorrectly. We should rework the date and time logic to use basic functions in libc. |

Note: wait for resolution on the other report before addressing this, it seems timedatctl should be supported as its dbus api is what the interface allows access to. |
