Bug Description

I expected that the snaps would be updated when I restart the application or my laptop. Yesterday, I restarted my laptop to apply a kernel upgrade, but the apps didn’t get upgraded, and notifications appeared.

Are there plans on implementing an update method where the update will be downloaded, but not applied until next launch (whether application closes, or system is restarted)?

Now that Firefox is being shipped as a Snap by default, that certainly needs to happen because everyone may end up running outdated Firefox frequently, and crash when it was needed to be updated.

We don't have immediate plans to refactor this, it would be a large undertaking to split up the download + install tasks inside snapd, and furthermore as I pointed out in that thread there are disadvantages to doing so.

I've put this as a wishlist item.
