This is certainly an interesting idea and one that might be doable with the OSX hypervisor framework. Having said that there's a non-trivial amount of work and integration required and it is not something we can commit to at this time.

If you or others are interested in OSX support you are welcome to build a plan and contribute patches towards making that a reality. This is a free software project and everyone is invited to join.

Just to update you, we're starting related work on this in a separate
team, shortly. The net effect will be it should be easy in six months to
have a native snapcraft on MacOS or Windows with Ubuntu automatically on
hand for builds.
