Well Mauricio, thats something I mentioned to Gustavo and he told me he had that
already in mind, and asked me to fill this request in order to not forget it. So
I would say you should ask him :)

Personally, I do not know if other distributions use package groups, but as a
good coding rule I would say it should be done as generic as possible, and then
take into account specific widely used cases (ie main distributions: suse,
redhat, debian)

Are you asking that specifically for SUSE selections, or any distro at all?

same feature as apt for suse (from http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/home.html)
===================================
Apt has been extended with group options. With these you can install a
collection of rpms. SuSE calls those groups selections. Groups that
are available ranges from Minimal, LSB, Hacker, Gnome-Devel, etc. The
available commands are:

   * apt groupnames
   * apt showgroup group-1...group-N
   * apt groupinstall group-1...group-N
   * apt groupremove group-1...group-N

These apt groups are very similar to the yum groups in Bug #244969
