Bug Description

When i try to make a screenshot of a selection and zoom via Ctrl+Mousewheel into the selection shutter crashes

$ shutter
[...]
ERROR:gtkimageview.c:901:gtk_image_view_scroll_event: assertion failed: (ev->direction == GDK_SCROLL_UP || ev->direction == GDK_SCROLL_DOWN)
Aborted

Using the latestst version of shutter here

$ dpkg -l shutter | grep ii
ii shutter 0.80~ppa4 Feature-rich screenshot application

Steps to reproduce

1) Start shutter
2) Choose the selection tool (First icon from the left, use the advanced selection tool)
3) Draw a box
4) Use Ctrl+Mousewheel to zoom into the selection -> Shutter crashes

I can reproduce the crash on every try. Using Compiz with the proprietary nvidia driver here.

Hm. It doesn't happen here with compiz and nvidia also. Without the box or
no, it was zooming in and out alright... but perhaps there is something in
the core still.

Try to zoom a little bit wilder. When i zoom carefully shutter doesn't crash. Only when i zoom faster it crashes.

I can confirm this. Is it possible that you are scrolling horizontally (using a touchpad for example)?

It is an upstream bug (gtkimageview-widget) and it's already fixed there:
http://trac.bjourne.webfactional.com/ticket/21

I think I can implement a workaround as long as this bugfix is not available in the official ubuntu repos.

I've got a Mighty Mouse from Apple which has a scroll ball so that can scroll in all directions.

Ok, horizontal scrolling causes the crash. I'll implement a fix. Thanks for your bug report.
