SL-UI: Backspace causes unexpected behavior

Bug Description
Backspace causes unusual behavior when a Full Text Search is facetized. Steps to reproduce.
1) Type text in search bar that matches some records.
2) Press RETURN to turn that into a facet.
3) Press BACKSPACE.
Observe that the facet no longer seems to be respected (a general search runs as though no facet) but the facet still remains.
Expected behavior would be either:
a) Facet goes away on BACKSPACE
b) No change to facet or search results when BACKSPACE pressed.
Either way the facet should match the search results.
