This seems like more than a minor "bug". Sometimes we will have books that have the majority of, if not all, pages marked with roman numerals. Without the ability to mark them, catching missed pages by looking for 'orange' spreads is unusable.

If Roman numerals are asserted the book reader will use them. The page numbers show up in the URL and the user interface. Seeing Roman numerals in the URL is great!

Some older books do have Roman numerals asserted. e.g.

Hi there,
Actually the book you cited is one that was shot using scribe 1.0 and
the old program did indeed allow for roman numeral insertion. The
details page shows that this book was shot using 1D cameras, and 1D
cameras are only compatible with scribe 1.0. There are still a number of
1.0 scribes in use in Toronto and a couple in San Francisco.
When we use 2.0 scribes with 5D cameras, the program does not allow us
to enter non-numeric page numbers. I am attaching a screen capture of
the message the program gives the scanners.
I'm sure all the coordinators would appreciate it if the bug remained on
the list as unresolved in hopes that some day it will be :)
Thanks so much!

Kris

I bet the check is just too strict. Maybe the check just needs to be adjusted? Since Roman numerals already appear in scandata.xml it shouldn't break any other part of the toolchain?
